So Who’s Proud?

My teenage son and my 23-year old daughter are always fighting. Mostly about the pettiest little, insignificant things.

There’s a lot of strife in the world just now. People fight for all sorts of things from lucrative financial jobs to other people's wives. Few people even bother to think about it, let alone pray about it – too complicated to solve, we all say. But according to the manufacturer’s handbook there seems to be a striking similarity between the strife in all the world trouble spots and the one that rages in my house. There is in fact one detestable human characteristic that causes it all.

This is what the human's manual says;

By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.

Proverbs 13:10

Both my kids were shocked at what the manufacturer's manual had to say. Neither of them has ever thought of themselves as proud. It never crossed their minds. Now they had to think again. Actually, I’ve not heard them have a go at each other for sometime now. Amazing but that’s the effect of the manufacturer’s handbook. One brief word has such an awesome impact.

It is interesting how the more educated folks are the more pride creeps in and they usually end up being full of themselves. Whether they acquire all their knowledge at an ivy league college or from one of the common online college courses, it really doesn't make a difference.

The humble will mostly be found at an employment agency but they will change a few months into the good job.

The Viagra lawyer who wins a big case is bound to change the way they walk, you'll probably find a little more spring there in the step... a proud look here and there.

Pride is dangerous because it comes before a fall. It's not just some other boring topic like auto insurance. This is life. Your life. Think about it long and deep.
